President-elect Barack Obama!!!

I have wept more tears of joy tonight (Tuesday) than I knew I had in me. It started at 11:01 p.m. EST when the TV networks projected that Barack Obama had won the election and was going to be the 44th President of the United States of America. My tears continued through his acceptance speech in front of over 250,000 people in Chicago's Grant Park, and did not stop until Jim Lehrer of PBS said goodnight at 12:40 a.m.

How long will it take for me to believe that Americans have voted an African-American into the highest office in the land? In my lifetime I saw black men, women and children hosed, beaten, jailed and killed just for trying to get the vote. And now, a black man has been elected President. I only wish my parents were alive to see this day. It makes me so proud to be an American. May we be worthy of the hope and promise that this day brings. And may we come together as a people to support this man whom I believe could well become one of the greatest Presidents in our history. May he remain safe.

*This is one of the photos I took at the Labor Day rally with then-Senator Obama in Detroit's Hart Plaza. CLICK HERE to see my Labor Day Rally photo gallery. And CLICK HERE to see my Election Day 2008 photo gallery.

How will I ever sleep tonight???

God bless America.
I saw Mr. Obama in the Ninth Ward in New Orleans several months after Hurricane Katrina devastated the entire Gulf Coast. He was wringing his hands and saying "my poor people, my poor people." 60 per cent of the Ninth Ward was inhabitated by African-Americans.
He went back to Washington, D. C. and voted AGAINST the bill that would have given funding to help restore the area.
I am afraid "his poor people" are in for a rude awakening.

This has been a very good day indeed for any American who wants to see an end to the era of fear, greed, and divisiveness that led us into a unnecessary war and ruined our economy. President Obama will put his intellect & compassion to work for all Americans, not just the wealthy and the well connected that have prospered under the current administration. Thanks for the great photo! {voted}

It has become an issue about race, not about the true issues. I am glad that we have come so far to elect a man of color but I look at what our candidates stand for, their principles, not the color of their skin. I have not liked what I have learned about this man and what his beliefs are on abortion nor have I liked McCain much better. Just my opinion. I just pray our country continues to be blessed...if not, God help us all.

I just get the feeling that he will refelct the wishes of so many Americans now. There is now talk in the UK whether we could have a black Prime Minister here? One day yes, but I cannot see it for a while yet.

I have never been prouder to be an American than I am right now....and I have never been so excited to vote! I was up before dawn yesterday to cast my vote for Barack Obama, a man with extraordinary capabilities who, I am sure, will finally steer us in the right direction. What a tough job he has ahead of him!
