Kitchen Beast

My Thermador, six burner, dual fuel 'professional' range. The top is gas, the oven is electric convection. This stove is a nightmare. It cost a small fortune, and since we bought it one year ago, it has been repaired NINE times! My old GE Profile wall oven didn't need a new element until it was 30 years old!! I think it's finally OK now. It IS kind of pretty. I'm not sure why, but men in particular seem to love this monster cooker! It could have been worse. We could have bought the eight burner!!!

Simple is always good. I have heard again and again that Thermador "professional" ranges have lifetime issues. Sorry to tell you that. Real professional kitchen ranges have no (zero) bells, whistles or concessions to household aesthetics: they are ugly workhorses built to last a century ~ and to turn a profit on. The main range in my restaurant is 35 years old. Wolf makes excellent heavy duty ranges for the home cook. I own one at my country place (I don't even make toast in my city apartment during my workweek).

Absolutely wonderful photo. Perfect renditon, bordering on the erotic. Now, if only it (she) could make tea!

In my family, the cook it's me. And although I am a man, I don't trust technology in these things.
So, last year I bought the simplest version!
(Nonetheless I admire that beast in photograph, and the perfect depth of field. You did it justice really ;-))
