The Skatalites are a band from Jamaika. They started their career in 1963 and are still playing today, though the line up of members has changed throughout the years.
They were mainly responsible for the development of ska music and their early numbers were the roots for reggae legends like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Jimmy Cliff.
In the late seventies and early eighties they also inspired british ska bands like The Specials and Madness.

'In the mood for ska' was their version of 'In the mood for love', a song originally from 1935. Until today 'In the mood for love' is one of the most covered pop songs.
There are versions by such different artists like Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, the Sex Pistols and Amy Winehouse.
