I joined the Foothills Conservancy of NC earlier this year after it was announced they had secured access to Catawba Falls. I noticed a place on their web site where they post hikes and called to join them on today's hike to Cane Creek Mountain. The meeting time wasn't until noon so I spent a couple of hours at Chimney Rock Park. The leaf color in this area is still outrageous! It's peak to past peak. This is the view from Pulpit Rock - my first stop.
