Rumbling Bald Mountain 2

The hike begins up the old red clay road to the left up above the water tower. The road soon splits - we took the hard left and began the climb to the first peak. Part way up the road is another road that goes left and down a short way to this view at waypoint 010 on the map. If you find this area, please don't trample any plants, but stick to the rock areas and tread lightly! The view looks across part of lake Lure to the bottom left of the map. Chimney Rock Park is on the right. Then to the left is the bowl that holds Wolf and Pool Creek and their waterfalls. Behind that is World's Edge - the left part of the bowl is Cane Creek Mountain. A lot of this bowl area is now part of the new Chimney Rock State Park, but isn't all open to the public just yet.
