February 7 - Frozen Trees and a Waterfall

I was itching to get outside today, but was up in the air about where I was going to go. Decided just to head over to Brevard and into the Pisgah Forest - maybe Cedar Rock and/or Cove Creek Falls. Once I got on Hwy 280, I could see ice covered mountain tops - so now my first stop was going to be the Blue Ridge Parkway. I was hoping for rime ice. Hwy 276 north was in good shape most of the way up. The temperature was 38. But when I got to the Discovery Center, I could see the rime ice I was hoping for was actually ice from freezing rain yesterday. The temp was dropping and the road had narrowed to about a lane and a half in places where the snow was piled up. There were broken limbs and parts of trees scattered everywhere. By the time I got to the Parkway it was 30°
