The entrance to Gorges State Park is just a few miles back up 281 from Whitewater Falls. The drive into the park to the parking for the Horsepasture River was lined with a lot of peak trees, but there wasn't a good place to legally pull off for a shot. Plus, I was in a bit of a hurry to get down to the river for a look. The trail to the river loses quite a bit of elevation and by the time I got to Stairway Falls, the leaf color was just showing signs of changing. Mid afternoon isn't a good time to go on a sunny day either as the falls is now in the shade. It's still a nice spot and I had it all to myself. Most people go up river to Rainbow and Turtleback Falls. I didn't have time today, but was planning to some time before I left the area.
