Oct 28: Fuel

A sack full of logs, stacked ready to go on the fire. We seem to be getting through a sack of these logs a day as open fires waste about 80% of the heat up the chimney. It's not even really cold here yet. We'll have a much more efficient woodburning stove installed soon... You'd laugh at the lighting for this... I wedged a paper globe light shade over a 40w clip on spotlight, clamped to the handle of the vacuum cleaner... not quite ideal!

I often think the behind the scene setup for my photos may be more interesting than they are, that's so not the case here, with your photos.
After 30 + years of relying on a woodstove for heat we made the switch to kerosene (paraffin in the UK?). Although it is nice waking up to a warm house, I miss the ritual of the woodstove.

Nice, warm (or at least warmish) pic. As for the lighting -- isn't that how *everyone* does it?

Maybe not ideal, but it works nicely! MMmmmm I'd love to be snuggled up near a fire right now reading a good book.
