Jun 28: Lurker - superhero!

"Calling International Rescue"...

This moring at Lurker Control, we recieved an urgent call. "I've got a flat tyre, can you come and help". What? Is the ultra-reliable (sic) Vectra-mobile in trouble? Load Lurker-1 with a trolly jack and a wheel brace and head out on a direct course to Bracknell! "We'll be with you in 15 minutes" came the reply.

Fourteen and a half minutes later, a rumble was heard. Lurker-1 arrives at the scene... that tyre was flat all right. A 15mm No.8 screw had pentrated straight through the sidewall. Flat as a very flat thing. Nothing for it but to fit the spare. Lucky we brought the extending handle socket handle thingy. Those goons at Kwick-Phit had tightened the wheelnuts to 5 million lb-ft of torque (as usual). Pah! Nothing the Lurker crew can't handle. 10 minutes and a cardboard cup of coffee later the Vectra-mobile was on it's way. Mission accomplished, FAB Vergil! (whoever he is...)

Any time any place anywhere... You'd better believe a 40 year old VW can save the world...

Bonkers, completely bonkers! You may well live to regret this 'anytime, anyplace, anywhere'... David, it's 3.00am and I'm stuck in Nottingham...

LOL!!! I love the shot, but I love the story more... When I was growing up I got to see the Thunderbirds and I loved it. I always thought someone should do a live action movie and now they have. I'm a little disappointed, though. Seems it's aimed at the kids!

"extending handle socket handle thingy" . . I'm afraid your English technical mumbo jumbo is a bit too high tech for me . . . but I DO understand floral paint jobs!!

A very classy photo and a great story as well. A two-er. Thanks for the visual and the laugh.

Blimey, I've just noticed the flowers reflected in the paintjob. Nice work Mr. Theochari!!! (for paint like this contact Terry's Beetle Services in Hanwell, London, England)
