Apr 2: More chicken racing

Ever tried getting a picture of a chicken with a wide angle lens? When you've got a telephoto, they always follow you around and get too close. With a wide angle, they suddenly get camera shy and run away. Only one thing for it, zoom to 40mm (not really very long) and give chase. They run quick these chickens. Too quick for me. This is Millie, captured as she made a dash past me to join the others, which were by now at the other end of the garden, clucking their encouragement. Or was it displeasure?

There's nothing quite like using your bestest, sharpest lenses and making deliberately blurry photos. It's kind of liberating. Hey, I can do sharp when I want too! ;-)

Still no ducks...

Fun image and visualization. Is chicken chasing big over there, or is this just something one does in the privacy of his own yard?
I really like the link to last year's PaD.

Fine study of a chicken on speed.

I am laughing so hard. I can only imagine. We needed Linda in the background with a video camera.

Keep them running - keep blurring :-)

40? A successful trip then! BTW do you chase chickens often? How do they know to run away from you? Do you have something to tell the group??!!
Ian Chappell02-Apr-2004 18:09
Do they lay better for having a chase??
Linda Alstead02-Apr-2004 18:02
