Mar 28: Looking west

The view west from the top of the Empire State Building, looking along 33rd and 34th Streets to the Hudson River. Broadway is at the bottom of the shot. This was a 'must do' of this trip. I've been up to the top of towers in London, Paris, Munich, Sydney and now New York. This one beats the lot. I had no idea that you can go outside when you reach the observatory at the top. Outside! The view is, well, look at the picture and times the effect by about 100! When we came back down, the experience left me shaking for half an hour. We jumped straight in a cab to Greenwich for a meal and I hardly noticed the crazy antics of the driver. I was half way down my first pint before I could speak a coherent sentence. Awesome!

An awesome scene. I use to go there almost every year when I was young with my aunts. I grew up outside of Boston so it was only a 4 hour drive.

Wow. I wish we could have been there with you. It's so fun to see those kinds of reactions.

A lovely shot.
I was trying to decide whether it would be better in daytime or at night.
Obviously the answer is both. Is it expensive?

Great shot, David. Did you and Linda re-enact that "Sleepless in Seattle" scene here? Actually, this would have been a cool place for the other "strangers" to have first met up!

I was hoping to see a shot from the top of the Empire State Building. Clear night and very beautiful view.

This is one of the nicest Empire shots I've seen . .you were fortunate to have a somewhat clear night! And the angle, OF COURSE, contirbutes to the feel of this one
I'm so glad you guys were here =) . . even if i wasn't
