One too many standards

Why do light bulbs all fail together? We've had 4 go this week. And why is it that when you need a 60W bayonet, all you can find is a 100W bayonet or a 60W screw? Anyway, I went out this afternoon and got some of these self powered bulbs in both fittings, just to be on the safe side! :-)

how did you get them lit without screwing or plugging them in?? I know . . .light is behind them, right?

I know what you mean David!!! We blow at least one bulb each week, and it usually trips the lighting circuit for whichever floor of our house it was on. In the old days we used to have to go outside, in the garage door, close it behind us (the fuse box was blocked by the up and over door when it was open!) find the fuse box, torch in teeth, if it was me I would be balancing on the lawnmower because I couldn't reach, flick the switch, and fight our way back into the house to find a lightbulb! Now, of course, I just walk into my newly converted workroom, climb onto my cutting table and sort it out with ease... so now you know why we converted the garage!!!
Anyway... what is a self powered lightbulb? Is it really self powered, or is it your 'elecric personality' that makes it light up? Ha, Ha, Ha!!!
