My brother in law, Rick, summed it up. Cats consider snakes to be self propelled rope toys.

Use to have a tabby point saimese that would go hunting in the woods and brings back snakes to show us what he caught. He would "belly ace and meow" until we came to see what he caught, then let it go. He once brought back a copperhead, that was scary.
