I know it's not the best shot, and I didn't take it, but it *was* taken with my uzi, and it's absolutely the most current photo I have, seeing as how it was taken on the 20th. And it's a very proud moment for me -- I am terrified of heights, and this was taken after I had arrived at the top of Stone Mountain, having hiked up with my friends. We took the pic to prove I was really there. If you pay attention to how my arms/hands are placed, I was trying to hold onto the pillar for dear life, without looking like that's what I was doing. And you can tell by my hair that the wind was very stiff up there, that day (my friends estimated it was about 40mph. I had to keep reminding myself that I really couldn't be blown off). My friend who took the pic had never used the uzi, and unfortunately, I didn't think about fill flash when I was setting it up, cause I didn't see the shadow there.
In case you're wondering.... Stone Mountain covers 583 acres or 25 million square feet of exposed granite. It is 1,683 feet above sea level and rises 825 feet above the surrounding area. The walk-up trail is about 1.3 or 1.4 miles, depending on who tells you about it. And it felt like it was almost straight up.
Oh, details... I've recently turned 42, currently living in the Atlanta area. Had a Kodak instamatic as a kid, then a 110, not graduating to an SLR (Pentax K1000) until 1987, just before the Air Force sent me to Belgium for a year. Bought my Uzi in Mar 2002, and found the group in Sept, I think. I think I've taken more (and hopefully, better) photos since finding the group, than I did in the entire 6 months before finding it.
