turkana reprised: camel slaughter

The camel was slaughtered for a wedding feast. One expert jab in the heart from an asagai
and the camel was dead within a minute.

Below, the tribal elders drink the blood of the camel in the belief that it makes them
stronger and wards off bad spirits.

A different culture, and this tradition sounds barbarian. That should get us thinking that all the things that we are doing and that are different. Think to our barbarian economical policy for example.
The way you show the camel is just right.

The fact that we do not see the head makes the photo even more mysterious. This kind of subject is sometimes tricky to show. You do it beautifully. With respect for the culture.

Fascinating couple of images. They make me think about how far removed we have become from understanding how food ends up on the table in the 'developed' world/where it has come from.
