Snow Geese (2 images)

Squaw Creek NWR, Missouri

ONE USUALLY THINKS OF SNOW GEESE AS ALL WHITE.. IN
FACT, THEY ARE A VARIETY OF WHITE AND DARK.. THE IMMATURE AND
DARK MORPH ADULTS GIVE A GREAT VARIETY TO INDIVIDUAL COLOR..

TO ME, ONE OF THE MOST UNUSUAL FEATURES IS THEIR
SMALL EYES.. I GUESS I HAVE BEEN TAKING TOO MANY PHOTOS OF RAPTORS..
THEY ARE AMONG THE MOST SOCIAL BIRDS TRAVELLING TOGETHER IN HUGE NUMBERS

SNOW GEESE BREED AND RAISE THEIR YOUNG IN THE ARCTIC TUNDRA NORTH OF
THE ARCTIC CIRCLE.. AND SPEND THEIR WINTERS IN THE SOUTH; TEXAS, MEXICO, ETC.

Wonderful shots and information Tom. They are both great and I like the second one best.
They winter here too by the thousands.
