Quite ironic as a PaD as it's a french horn, on sale at
today's brass band contest at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
Ironic as there are no french horns in a brass band. But I liked the image.

Strange day. We got drawn number 1 - Helen's photo below shows the band just
after performing. (I forgot to pass someone my camera!).
We played in the Spanish Hall which is quite a unique setting as you can see!



Not ideal to play first, but the band played quite well and was hoping
to get in the top ten at least (full adjudication can be found
on www.chesterbrass.co.uk for those interested). So everyone was more
than a little subdued on the coach home - as you can see in the Blackpool gallery,
apart from the girls who were waving to passing lorries (with some success!).



Disappointing really as the band, under our new musical director
had put in a tremendous amount of work on the test piece.
12th is however good enough to stay in the 3rd section,
so we live to fight another day...

Blackpool out of season is a strange place,
many pbasers would overdose on the 'character' photo opps,
and the Winter Gardens a 'grand' palace of a place.
Apparently there was a George Formby event on at the same time....





Will try to take more photos next time.
The kids did get to the funfair though - but no photos either, sorry.
