A hummingsquirrel??...

I have never seen a squirrel on the hummingbird feeder before and thought it looked quite amusing, so grabbed a couple of shots. I was not quite so amused when I went to fill the feeder later and saw that the squirrel had removed with its clever little hands and sharp claws, two of the yellow plastic parts that the hummingbirds feed from. I managed to find them and put them back and I hope it does not happen again!

I wish you luck, but once he's figured it out I think you're in for trouble LOL! Great catch.

LOL,Tricia. These little animals are so clever and will get to food no matter how hard you try and keep them away!

Lots of luck, Tricia, in dealing with this new species that you photographed so nicely.

Now I don't feel so bad! I am having lots of troubles with squirrels drinking the sugar water (I have the pics to prove it) and they are also eating the grape jelly put out for the orioles. I have never in all my years of putting out hummer feeders and jelly feeders had troubles with squirrels draining them, now the raccoons are another story...............

At least they're not stealing my nuts!! Now that is uncomfortable!
