BIG birds a ways away

I was walking downstairs this afternoon when I noticed through the window above the front door, some kerfuffle in the trees behind the houses over the road from me. I could not see what it was til I put my LONG lens on with the 1.4x teleconverter too. It is two hawk type birds, not sure what type. I am just amazed that I could get such a shot from so far away!

Great capture Trisha!! Either red shouldered or red tailed hawks...I'm leaning towards red shouldered because it looks like some orange barring on the chests. Quite possibly this is a breeding pair partaking in a little courtship ritual?? Now is the time of year for the courtship to take place and usually they lay eggs sometime in Feb - March. Maybe you will have a nesting pair close to your property. If you do a search on either bird, you will get some good links that describes the loud screeching sounds that they make, something to listen for! Hope you get to see them again. Nice job on this one!!

They look like Osprey. I saw one yesterday when I was turning a corner.
