These were growing in somebody's back yard. The fairly large bush was climbing over and through the privacy fence. The light is bad from this angle, but I couldn't get any other point of view at that time of day. Maybe if I'd dragged my butt out of bed earlier, I could have gotten better light. ;-)

This neighborhood has been here since the mid-1980s. Some of the back yards along the greenway have large old flowering bushes like this - don't know if they went in with the housing development or were here with the farm/ranch that was on this land before.

UPDATE: Despite the old-fashioned form of these flowers, it occurs to me that it might be a more modern variety, such as one of British breeder David Austin's popular "English roses", which are bred to resemble some of the older classes.
