The CGW utilized a 310 horsepower diesel engine to Drive a Sturtevant multivane fan, The fan measured 14 feet in diameter and delivered 280,000 cubic feet of fresh air per minute into the tunnel. CGW did not identify the manufacturer of the diesel engine in its records but it was most likely similar to the Fairbanks Morse Type Y power plant developed in 1912 for industrial and agricultural applications.
