94 Year Diary of a Sequoia

Yosemite National Park

If this 94 year segment diary of the 100+ year old tree shown here could only be in video or with written text, what a story it would tell. A tree that quietly sprung from the ground, grew to tower over it's surroundings through wars and generations and eventually crash to the ground (if there was no one in the woods I'll bet someone heard this one land anyway). The life of this tree did not stop at 94 years, but the photo does because of the reality of juvenile carvings that ironically add another sad chapter to the end of the life of such a great work of Mother Nature.

It is often in the details that the whole can be made known. For me this image confirms that. You have gotten to the heart of the matter. The agelessness of Yosemite is captured in this detail. You also talk about looking over shoulders - something I do, too. - yet in all the galleries I have seen about this trip I have not seen an image like this - I should have been looking over your shoulder.
