The Kirchweihfest (also called Kirmes or Kerwe) is the annual highlight of each village
and was originally celebrated in commemoration of the consecration of the local church.
All sorts of customs are associated with the fest but all have a fair lasting
several days (like a mini Octoberfest). In our village the fest is always on the
third weekend in September.
