At the end of WWII, the Army used a number of the Series 75 Cadillac limousines manufactured between 1938 and 1942. As Commander of the 15th Army (December 1945) Patton had one assigned to him.

This is the vehicle in which he was a passenger when he was killed in a traffic accident in late 1945. After the crash, the front end was replaced using parts from other Cadillacs (not necessarily Series 75's) and the grill was locally made in Germany, thus giving the car the unique appearance it has today.

After repairs were made, it was returned to service as a US Constabulary vehicle and was later used by General I.D.White.

Note the 'flipper' turn signals and parking lights, all of which were non-standard.
