Yesterday was my birthday, I'm 44 years old.
I was expecting a nice quite evening at home with the missus and the pups.
I told Cathi I wanted a berry pie for desert after dinner instead of the traditional cake.
She was going to stop and get one from the baker on the way home.
When I got home, she said the baker was out of berry pies. As a consolation, we should go to dinner instead.
She'd already made reservations. "Um, Ok" What the hell, I was a little dissapointed that the pie was out,
but dinner might be a nice substitute. She wanted to go to this really nice italian place downtown
and I knew they would have nice desserts. We drove into town and as we walked up to the restaurant
I saw there was a table outside on the sidewalk that was empty. I thought it would be nice to sit
outside for dinner since the weather had turned mild this week. As we entered, I started to ask about
the table outside but I never had the chance. "We have a table right over here for you." Oh, ok.
So I followed, my eye roaming the room to the area where we were headed. The place was packed.
'There isn't anywhere to sit over there, why are we going that way?' I thought to myself. Then she
started to seat us at this big table already filled with people. I'm thinking 'What the f...."
Then it dawned on me.
The table was filled with family! I hadn't even noticed, and I'd been lead by the nose right up to it!
So much for my photographer's eye...
Well, the night turned out very nice, the food was excellent and I had a lot of fun.
And I got my pie, berry at that. Cathi had dropped it off earlier in the day.
I only wish I'd had my camera with me!
