April 1st - Chuck - after

This shot of Chuck was doctored in PS.
I made the adjustments using the Adjust Levels command.
Basically just lightened the shot and increased contrast.

Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel
1/60s f/5.6 at 55.0mm iso400 with Flash full exif

other sizes: small medium large auto

I've made a before and after gallery. I'll try to post any mods there...Thanks for the idea!

Yep, I sure will. Perhaps I'll create a gallery for originals or comparisons.

I like this one a lot better...can you post the original for comparision in another gallery?

Thanks for your input, Felicia. I went ahead and corrected the levels and replaced it with the updated version.

Yes, Chuck has been pretty tolerant of me running around with my camera, however he has some interest in photography as well. I figure that it's only fair to sit for someone else if you ask them to sit for you. Besides, I've put up with his singing for too many years now!

LOL. you've captured that look all of our friends give us - the "fine fine fine.. just take the dang picture"...Good job.

It is a little dark, but his eyes are brown anyways. I'm actually playing with bouncing the on-camera flash with a piece of white card stock or paper, as opposed to shooting with the direct flash. I've also been playing with softening the flash with a sheet of paper as diffuser.

In my everyday job I make TV commercials and the one thing I hate is harsh direct light from the camera's perspective.

Thanks again for your input!

I think a little PSing will help you out here. I want to see Chuck's eye color but it's your photo is a little on the dark side. He looks bored, lol. Welcome to PDA-ing!
