How long do they live? I found one in my pool three days ago. It is still alive but won't fly.

Just saw a pair mating in my overgrown backyard. First time I've seen a swallowtail in my yard, much less mating.

I just saw one for the first time around my citrus tree in The Villages. It is so much larger than my Gulf Flitteries that are in abundance.

I found one of these amazing beauties resting on my pool deck last week and had to take a pix of it. I live in Coral Ridge section of Ft. Lauderdale. I am in awe of the beauty!

Margaret: I just saw this butterfly in my garden in Plantation, Florida. It was so beautifully resting on the deck floor by the water. Could not help take the photo. He lied here quite a longtime.
I felt he was a messenger of good deeds.

I have this particular butterfly breeding, feeding and fluttering around my house in Miami's Design District. Several times I found them either sitting between my front door and the burgler bar door as if waiting for me to come home and let them in! I feel blessed everytime they try to come in my house!

I found one "swimming" in my pool, inside the screened patio. Don't know how it got there but it looked like it was "floating from the deep end to the shallow. Unfortunately, it was dead, but beautiful and still in tact. It now is framed and sits on my bookcase in the computer room.

In the last several days I have seen this type of butterfly in my back yard flower gardens, I got as close of about 2 feet, close enough to get several photos with my digital camera, they have a wing span of about 4 to 6 inches, very hugh. There was even a small flock of them, 5 to 6 that flew over the garden spot into a neighbors yard and over the roof tops. This was on 9/10/12, this is the first year I've seen them.

I see these quite often in our gardens in Homosassa, FL. They seem to like the bright yellow flowers of the buttercup bushes.

One's been spending a lot of time during the last two weeks in our flower gardens.
