This is a highly intersting photo. The Sylvicola flies develop as larvae in decaying wood and the emerging adults move to ned pieces of wood for egg-laying. The pseudoscorpions (also common in decaying wood) are flightless and depend upon insects for dispersal. This type of dispersal is called phoresy and it is typical for pseudoscorpions and mites. It is not often that this phoretic association is documented so nicely as in this photo.
