This is Erdene Amgalan, a camel-herder who lives with his family in a ger in the Gobi Desert. He has a solar panel hooked up to a car battery with a satellite dish with over 100 TV channels. When we entered the ger, the whole family was watching an American movie dubbed in Mongolian. Tom mentioned that we watch almost no TV except the news and the father of the family said that the news was so depressing that they had to balance it with something cheerful. Of course, the talk turned to Trump. The herder believes that Trump will build the wall between the US and Mexico and that will anger Central and South America so much that they will stop trading with the US and only trade with China. China will replace the US as most powerful nation. He grew up in Mongolia during Soviet Socialism and says you cannot trust Russia. He said that with Russia and the US there was always a wolf and a rabbit. Now Putin is the wolf and Trump is the rabbit. (I love travel!)
