Uncle Bertie

Bertie Charles Martin England was my Dads oldest brother who was killed in WW1 during the battle of the Menin Road. Sadly he was killed on the last day of that particular battle on 25th September 1917. More informatio on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Menin_Road_Ridge

Yes a very sad reminder, Tony.
l lived in South Africa in a town with street names commemorating
battles in WW1.
eg, Delville Wood, Somme Road and l used to live on Menin Road.
