Cedar Waxwing

Wisconsin

I have not photographed birds for a long time. I'm not as steady as Terry. I couldn't get my shutter speed up to 1/focal length, despite ramping iso to 1600 and introducing noise. It was fun trying and more to come, soon. I suspect that I'll have to adapt Lennart's expert technique of mounting my camera on a sturdy tripod, if I want to succeed.

I'd have to say you haven't forgotten anything, Cindy.
This is beautifully done.

Impressive Cindy to handhold a 500mm and at 1/320s and get this good result! Don´t complain, its good! But as you write; for even better sharpness use a tripod. i do it because I have shaky hands! Great DOF and colors!

This is a fine shot Cindy.
lt doesn't show the difficulties that you experienced.

What a great shot composition spot on... I hand hold my 100 to 400 lens... At first I had to do weight lifting with it while watching tv... then I hand held sitting down then I hand held standing up.. they don't stay still long enough to set up a tripod most often.

Sure looks good to me, Cindy! Super shot. Love that setting and
the pose. I would be tickled with this! Very low noise for ISO 1600.
I'm amazed you could hand hold this at 500mm and 1/320s and get such good results.
