Carnton

Franklin,TN

The plantation near the battlefield at Franklin, TN.
This home, owned by the McGavock family for over 100 years, became a surgical hospital after the battle in November, 1864.
The boards of the dining room are still stained with the blood of injured soldiers who were in surgery there.

Interesting history to this house and a grand building.
Its strange how your US history is much older than we imagine in UK.
As this must be over 150 years old

It is such a beautiful old house. It is hard to imagine that it was the scene of such sadness.

Very nicely done, Michael. Its hard to image how much suffering took place there.
