Thanks for sharing all of the other versions... all are superb, but I like the orginal post the best.

Converts well into B&W - lots of texture and good tones

Good image! Wonderful composition...

Love the movement (even knowing that is a still shot). DOF perfect and composition is lovely.

Hi Cindy,
This is one of those rare photos that is brilliant whatever one does to it.
Color, B&W or toned, it is simply glorious.
Very many thanks for going to the trouble of adding the red for me.

My friend, Heidi, asked me to show it to her in color. [img][/img]

Thanks, Bob, Terry, Hal and Lennart.
Terry, I have a background curtain about 5 feet behind the tulips, which gives the mottled background. The lens shot wide open has a beautiful OOF rendering, which is why I love it. Do you know that Contax/Yashica Carl Zeiss N lenses can be adapted to Canon bodies. You have to shoot them in manual focus (which is what I do with almost all of my lenses). I used a Canon 5D for a couple of years with the C/Y 50 f/1.4 lens on it most of the time. Lovely!
Hal, Yes, uncoated. I do have to watch for flare. Here is the photo with a red filter (for you!).

A real beauty in b&w!

Classic beauty, Cindy.
And l presume that the lens is uncoated.
l wonder how it would look with a touch of red tone.
(l prefer to leave out the yellow in mild sepia toning.)

And with your 1937 lens!!
Terry_O26-Mar-2012 05:18
Yep, that's the only word for it 'Stunning,' Cindy.
So crisp yet softened with that delicious background. Makes those
tulips look so three dimensional.

As an aside, a professional photographer was trying out some Zeiss lenses adapted for
a Canon SLR at our local camera shop. He does videos full time and showed me what
these lenses can do with bokeh. Incredible - this is such a nice example.
