Mitchell Homestead

Dave and I took a drive out to look at the Mitchell Homestead since the corn has been cut and you can see the house again. I know this is an old subject, but for some reason, I am so intrigued by this house. You can see that it has deteriorated quite a bit in the last year. There is not much roof left and once that falls in, the structure will probably cave-in. I'm expecting that the farmer who farms this land, will probably push it down at some point in the not-too-distant future.
I put one of my textures over it and played around.

Even the wall is cracking now.

I remember it well and our treatment of it in the challenge has perhaps taken a toll ??

Make sure you are there when the farmer knocks it over ? would be good to see it collapse to see the end of the story.

Its definitely not long for this world, Cindy. I love the way
you antiqued the shot. Very consistent with its current condition.
Its amazing that the place was let go to
rack and ruin. It looks like it was quite nice in times
past.

Great subject and I love the processing.

You are right on target about photographing it while you can. These things often just disappear one day or fall under their own weight and once they are gone, they are gone.

this is familiar .. oh now now the exterior has a big crack coming from the window area.
