An afternoon on the American prairie near Strong City, Kansas.
The National Tall Grass Prairie Preserve is one of the largest preserves of the open prairie in the US, approximately 11,000 acres in south central Kansas.

No, Terry, the US Parks Service personnel told me this area was too far east to have been affected by those conditions.
This was, for years a cattle ranch.
The Flint Hills, where this is located, was never suited for farming. The limestone all over the area would bear that out. This tall grass, which actuallyis made of a large tangled net of about 70 different grasses, is drought resistant, since the roots of these grasses are usually up to 12 feet long. They had plenty of rain this vear.. The tops of the grass were well over 6 feet tall.
