Memphis,TN

First Baptist Church, Chelsea.
This is a landmark church in inner city Memphis, in one of the more troubled areas.

But God is still there. I like the plant near the steeple. The clouds are great too. A good shot for sure!

Nice shot Michael. It seems rather disturbing to see barred doors on a church though.

This is a beautiful church Michael, unusual the way you have to go up the steps to get to floor level, is it storage space below??
Great capture.

Very nicely photographed, Michael. I agree, it looks like it previously
had another spire. Its sad to see masterpieces of old architecture deteriorate.

A lovely old church. Too bad it's in a troubled area...

A very fine and calm picture and colored in soft colors!

A very fine photo, Michael. The church looks rather down at heel.
No stained glass. No rose window.
Probably an accurate depiction of the area, with burglar proofing
on the door. Your photo tells a sad story.

Cindy:
I think it's a tree.
I am wondering if there wasn't a second spire at one time. Looks like it needs one...

It looks like it was pretty grand in its day. It is sad that there are bars on the doors. The light and exposure are very nice and you captured lots of nice detail. Any idea what that is on the ledge by the spire?
