Pete:
Expecting to see something really cool, then, with all those gorgeous places over there.
Barry, thanks for the kind words.
I used my widest lens and got close, least aperture I could get away with, metered inside and outside, split the difference.

It's strange that I have taken several shot of windows from the outside and not looking out like this. This tells much more about a place and so your excellent shot has got me thinking

In essence, I concur with everything that has been said already... beautifully framed and not easy to achieve correct exposure inside and out... well done!!

Your encouraging comments are very much appreciated.

A beautifully framed shot of the medieval design Michael.
lt goes back to the 12th century.
A lovely photo with the pretty view through the window. A winner.
Rudi 07-Jul-2010 07:11
It's not just about the window here. It's how you lined up the outside details to fit into the view just so! Great work, well done!
Terry 07-Jul-2010 04:42
I agree with all that has been said, Michael. This is really
a wonderful image. I love the extreme sharpness of the window frame
and window. It really sets off the view beyond. A very tricky
exposure.

Oh, no. I wouldn't want you to remove the dirt. It adds to the character.
Michael Edwards07-Jul-2010 03:40
Cindy, thanks very much.
Couldn't bring myself to use fill to remove it.
Jim, I was standing on the top level in the slave gallery.
What a place...

Michael,

Wow, this is really incredible! You must have been standing on top of a very tall ladder! I love the symmetry and your exposure is absolutely perfect. Well done!

I enjoy looking at architectural details as much as the building as a whole. I like how the trees are framed in the top pane (and the window washer missed some dirt there. LOL).
