#068 The Thief

We keep trying to attract birds to our garden but the food
never lasts long as the squirrels move in and sweep up making it
very hard for the birds to get near. We tried a long string on this
half coconut but the squirrels quickly figured out how to get hold of the goodies.

PS The coconut was filled with a fat mix which Claudia enjoyed mixing up.

Oh was also shot through the dining room window so a bit of quality loss and
I wish I hadn't put the blue shed there, I would prefer a natural backdrop !

Great photo, no wonder they do such a good job of surviving!

Awesome shot, John. Timed to perfection.

Great shot even through the window. Reasonable DOF with a fair amount of background blurr and the squirel has a reasonable amount of detail. There was a similar shot yesterday with deer raiding someones bird feeder.

Squirrels are quite smart, there isn't much that can stop them. This shot is pretty darn good for being shot through the window.

Hard to beat those squirrels! Here's my version with a red squirrel .

These little guys are incredible - it's amazing how they can stretch or twist to get food. Nice capture.

Could not be any better....annoying, but cute little guys, aren't they?

Wonderful shot. BTW, I keep the anti-squirrel cannon in my blue shed.

This is super! I love the way he's stretched out and you've caught wonderful detail.
Guest 09-Mar-2005 23:09
The blue's a good contrast - brings out the red more!
Guest 09-Mar-2005 23:08
Reminds me of that advert that used to be on tv where the squirrel would go over an entire assault course just to get to the food! Can't remember what the advert was for though! This is a great capture, no squirrels in my garden just pheasants!?!
Ian Clowes09-Mar-2005 22:37
Quite like the blue background - you should have bought a bigger shed!
Our problem is cats!

I think you are training your squirrls and they seem to have fun with this. This is such a great capture!!! One you will not see so soon again, lest they come to your house lol. Great shot!!
