TAKING HER CHEMOTHERAPY

Fort Worth, TX

This shot is very close to my heart. I had to go for my 6 month visit to the Oncologist today. I'm sure I'm fine, but when I walked by the "chemo room" this lady was sitting in the chair that I sat in when I was hooked up. She too, is a breast cancer survivor. We spoke for a while and I hugged her and asked her if I could take her picture. She immediately pulled the bandana off her head and smiled and said yes. We both cried a little, I hugged her again and gave her my number. Today brought back a lot of memories of pain and fear but an inspiration to live and be healed.

I recognize the strength in these eyes, and the lack of ego that prompted her
to remove her hat is just further proof. Very moving, Cindi.

Good for you Cindi! For reasons you and this lady would rather have avoided, you have shared a hug and spread a little more love around than was there before. Best of luck to you all!

Such bravery can only be guessed at by those of us not touched by this awful disease. The sad fact is that so many of us are touched by it, directly and indirectly, Oh! how it leaves its mark on our lives.

I believe there is something about being a survivor in a hospital that makes people more willing to have their photograph taken even thought the asking is often difficult for us. It's like a testimonial of hope for others. Beautiful.

Cindi, this is hitting hard tonight. My thoughts are with you and hope your check up today shows only good things! (And with this beautiful fighter, too) We had some sad news about a dear friend today. His cancer has returned very aggressively and it doesn't look good. We will always be positive for him and pray that he wins this fight. I'm truly humbled by people such as yourself, who carry on through the fear and darkness, and fight with every breath left.

WOW Powerful Cindi. I have way more breast cancer victims than I ever thought I would.
Some survivors, some not, some we don't know yet. (you know this all too well!)
Hopefully these types of pictures influence someone who would otherwise"skip that mammogram" or ignore that lump and promp them to ACT!!
Ya never know
GOD BLESS

I am delighted you shot this and I am doubly delighted she took the bandanna off. Tell her she has a wonderfully warm smile =)
