These ladies truly look innocent as their culture dictates! We cannot feel ashamed of true African culture. Dotted around are still originals....like these beauties! give me what to be proud of and I will tell you it is Swaziland queens; they are all, really. Mr. King keep them that pure!

mamamia they are so beautifull ant to imagine they dont even seem to be aware of it,swazi guys are lucky to be able to attend this dance every year and see what we in kenya only see in private and only one lady at a time

Even the princess are there in the very same uniform as the civilians, so can't say it's child abuse. this is the love for the culture and trdition. if folks don't like it then they can move from this site or cheer up the tradition which is still loved by the natives and they want to keep it alive. Hey tim

I almost loved your post - but got disappointed when you started talking about the budget - get your facts straight there my friend. Otherwise i hear what you are saying. But the issue is - it's not just the King who can stop it - thousands of the girls would cry - they love it. To most of them it is a social gathering where they meet during school holidays and make new friends.

The two in the middle are over 18. If I were the king, I would take them both back to the royal palace.

This wrong!! We live a in modern society and cannot be compared with the past, when innocence and discipline prevailed. The King should just style up. He looks modern, young and educated he should stop what he is doing and lead by expample its quite disgusting to see even girls as young as 10 getting exposed to the so called reed dance these are things of the past which must be abandoned at all cost the church must stand up and opposed such outdated and wicked ways the bible says in Proverbs that Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any nation just look at Swaziland almost more than half of the country's national budget goes to the king. What about the rest of population?? Poverty and AIDS. What a reproach? The truth however bitter it may seem must be told.

I really think this dance is forced on this young ones. Also who ever posted this photos on web is also a culprit. I'm sure non of this girls would like their photos to appear on web and surely they wouldn't pose nude if they had their liberties. This is child abuse.

Well you people are disgusting this is so wonderful,Swaziland is the cultural headquarters for the whole of mother Africa. It is the only country that still embraces its culture both for the young and the old, male or female. This is such a wonderfull, colourfull event, I love it so much. The reed dance is and was never intended for His Majesty to choose a wife, I agree with Lundani, the main focus here is the King mother and not the King. We have a separate ceremony called Lusekwane where young boys who havent reached purbety dance for tha King.He has never choosen a wife at the damce. So pls guys before you judge and make those stupid comments, try and educate yourselver first, because really to me this shows stupidity and ignorance. Why am I not suprised coz some of u dont even know where they came from(u dont know your history) Thats why this white people laugh at you because you try too adopt a western life annd forget about ur culture and your roots, cant you see that they want what you have.Who said that because we are in the twentieth century we should forget about our culture? Thats insame, wake up Africa and embrace you beauty.LONGLIVE SWAZILAND LONG LIVE THE REED DANCE
