I spent a fair bit of time trying to photograph insects at Selva verde. The Botanic Gardens, when it was sunny, proved to quite profitable for butterflies and a few other insects, and by checking out the lighted walkways at night I was able to get a variety of other insect and spider photographs. Some insects were also seen and photographed along the forest trails, but these were in the minority. Anyone who thinks that they will be constantly waging a battle with insects in the rainforest, inevitably finds out quite differently on their first trip to the American tropics.
