Cigar Lover

It is yet again proven that Graciela
has a fairly limited repetoire of poses...
I stumbled across this shot of her and
noticed that I had actually captured one
shot where the cigar smoke was actually
visible. It was a dull day, which has in
this case helped to reveal the smoke. I
must admit that I used the dodge tool to
accentuate it though... semi cheating...

I love everything about this shot. It's "character" study, but there's so much funk and humanity here too.

Yes, I love your journal and the reference to this lady. I'd like to quote you:

"The first person I noticed was an elderly lady with Harry Potter glasses. A hideous yellow and red rose hair band and puffing on a cigar while seated with one leg up against the door still and one on the road. I asked her if I could take her photo and she replied “1 peso”. I had just run into the probably most photographed character in Havana."

Beautifully written and well photographed. I recognized her from yoru journal. You have added more color to your own words. This should be published.

Lots of love, Aida

BTW: Read the note. It is ok to cheat and use PS tools. I don't think of it as any different than using the tools of a darkroom.

I think I have seen here in a few of your photos. She looks to be a wonderful character and you have captured that very well. Superb work.V
