Description: | Owl on a tree stump with buried drum behind. |
Wood: | Rosewood - Brazil |
Finish: | "Flecto" Varathane Liquid Plastic, 91 Clear Satin. |
Size: | Approximately 4" H x 5" W x 2" D. |
Notes: | The wood used was the large upper triangular piece removed from the 6"x6"x2" block when "THE DECISION BASE" (see elsewhere) was begun. Environmental desolation is represented by the stump and the buried drum. The indefatigability of life is depicted by the presence of the owl. However, many questions are unanswered by the piece. How severe (buried drum leaking toxic substances) and widespread (outside the limits of the piece) is the environmental deterioration? How long has the owl (life) survived under these desolate conditions? What does the future hold? Note the more subdued hue of this piece compared to the much more reddish cast of ""THE DECISION BASE". The only difference in treatment was in the type of finish. |
