This photo has been hanging at my favorite diner here in Juneau. The owner who is a fishing buddy let me scan it so I could put it on here. The back of the photo has the following.
Boat name "New Annie" and also "Copyright Don Koenings 950 lb halibut caught by Emmit Wood in a gillnet near Pelican Alaska in 1956".
This would be the largest halibut I have ever read about or seen photos of. These fish can grow to monsterous sizes. If anyone objects to me having this photo posted here please contact me and I will remove it.
