St.Mary's Church,Sompting.

A saxon church,in origin.The tower used to be taller,but about 25feet was removed from its height,in 1762.The tower is the only example in England of a Saxon tower with four sided gabled spire,resembling those of the Rhenish Provinces.The cap,is "helm" form.
