I've included this shot,to try to give you an idea of the sort of natural obstacle,only too familiar to the Wall builders.There are the remains of a milecastle,just out of picture to the upper right.The footbridge is almost on the line of Hadrian's Wall,which at this point has been destroyed by the stream.
