Hadrian's Wall:Winshield Crags,looking west

Winshield Crags,Northumberland,UK.

The "modern" wall in picture skirts the hilltop along the line of Hadrian's Wall, exiting shot on left before dropping down to climb over large dark hill to lhs, before dropping down atop a series of cliffs to the small lake in the middle distance. That "lake" is a disused quarry, which destroyed a lengthy section of Wall. From there, the line of the Wall,is shown by a field wall running from the "lake" towards the top righthand corner of the picture, past a farm (beside the farm are the remains of a Roman fort AESICA)and into some trees. The Wall then goes over the "bumps" at the top rhs of the picture.
