NGC 1512 and its invisible arms

This deep exposure of NGC 1512 in the southern constellation of Horologium reveals a complicated
system of very faint outer arms that are not normally seen in visible light exposures.

Fantastic!! I don't know how this galaxy is never imaged!! The faint outer arms are also visible in an old deep AAO image taken by David Malin more than 10 years ago, the GALEX image came after this one.
