Light Work

Our digital photography group met last night to learn lighting techniques for portrait photography. It was a good opportunity to capture a noisy shot for the challenge.

I had the same problems myself, Harvey - photoshopping noise into the shot does actually help the composition and the feel of the shot in light of the competition. I tried some shots for the challenge at ISO1600 and ISO3200 and still felt like I needed to add noise in post to really get the feel I was going for. Good choice on adding it here.

I photoshopped in some noise and replaced the image with John's help. I think it fits the challenge better now.

You're right, John. ISO 3200 produced less noise than I expected. Maybe I'll start to use the higher settings more often.

At these internet sizes it's hard to see the noise but it's an interesting idea, Harvey, to take a noisy photo at a demonstration of how to use light well. Interesting group, all shooting differently.
