Tenth Place (Tie)
White Noise*

by Justin Miller

Broken Sound Country Club

A technique used often in pricey gated neighborhoods in our town - fountains or running water usually graces the front of the neighborhood which produces a 'white noise' to drown out any nearby highway hustle and bustle from the rush of traffic on the streets, and create an atmosphere of serenity and isolation from the noisy city. White noise, shot noisily.

Cool shot - I love the lighting, and bright, sharp look!

Quite! I think the more pattern or 'busy-ness' going on in the shot, the noise doesn't really harm the composition and if anything adds yet another texture or layer to the shot. Here, the water took on more translucency with the increased noise, and the light from the setting sun off to the left rear is what caught my eye.

Now you're talkin', Justin. You're into the theme horizontally and vertically. This is a great idea, and a noisy image. About noisy ideas, I was thinking a clown would work: with a checked suit, striped shirt and polka dot tie, with a klaxon in his hand...underexposed at ISO 3200.
